Automate your migrations to move your content from your old site to your new GovCMS site in a repeatable and predictable way with a low-to-no content freeze.

Automation overview

Setup and run automated migration scripts that take content from your source CMS and maps it to your GovCMS site. Suitable when you have a large site with many content structures and/or many pages.

Engagement process

Salsa follows the engagement process below:

  1. Review questionnaire or brief: Agency to complete a light questionnaire (or send Salsa a high level project brief) reflecting basic requirements and/or project key business drivers.

  2. Intake and alignment: Salsa conducts a free 30-45 minute intake phone call to align on scope, expectations and overall engagement requirements based on the questionnaire or brief.

  3. Discovery: Workshop to establish the target IA, number of content structures and content mappings.

  4. Pre-migrate: Define source content export definitions, execute dry test runs and produce content migration exports (.json files).

  5. Build and migrate: Configure target content structures, configure content migration imports and run and verify automated migrations.

  6. UAT: Validate content migrations via user acceptance testing (UAT) with minor remediations if/as required.

  7. Deploy: Optionally push (migrate) content to live system.

Outputs

  1. Migration complexity scope documented and optional edge cases identified

  2. Groomed backlog reflecting content migration user stories

  3. .json content export files

  4. GovCMS site configured with target/new content types

Outcomes

  • A new/target GovCMS site with fully migrated content

Assumptions

  1. All content is publicly accessible

  2. Unlimited number of pages

  3. Each content structure contains up to 10 custom fields and up to five paragraph types

  4. ‘As-is, like-for-like’ migration of field content with no cleansing or transformation
